Scott G. Brown is vice president, general counsel and secretary with responsibility for Covestro LLC. He oversees the Law, Patents and Compliance Department, which provides corporate, litigation, compliance and intellectual property counsel to all Covestro business and service units.
Scott began his career in 1980 as counsel for the Marathon Oil Company, Findlay, Ohio, and moved on to become counsel and director in the Law Department for Mobay/Bayer in 1987. He became vice president and assistant general counsel for Bayer Corporation in 1995.
Scott is active in the community as a board member of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, a not-for-profit charitable corporation serving adults and youth in the Pittsburgh region by providing instruction, guidance and mentorship in career and arts education. He also supports the efforts of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Covestro’s science education program.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in economics from Hiram College and was elected Phi Beta Kappa in 1977. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1980 and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1980 and the Pennsylvania Bar in 1988.
Scott and his wife, Kim, currently reside in Franklin Park, near Pittsburgh. They have a daughter attending Chatham University and a son attending Western New England University.
