Covestro has played an active role in an initiative to transform the long-vacant Connelly Trade School in Pittsburgh into the Energy Innovation Center, or EIC. This project involves renovating more than 300,000 square feet of existing/new facilities to the LEED Platinum standard. The facility provides workforce, economic and community development with the ultimate goal of becoming known regionally, nationally and internationally as a “go-to” place for sustainable energy technologies and education.
Covestro’s involvement is multi-faceted. The company provided valuable technical expertise as well as a broad range of materials, including polyurethane insulation products and floor coatings, needed to take the EIC from a visionary concept to an energy-efficient, operating training and meeting center. Covestro’s involvement also plays another important role: reinforcing our strong commitment to the Pittsburgh community.
