Factors for effective design

Covestro materials and expertise expand design possibilities

Covestro to present at Design in Plastics conference

Pittsburgh, June 20, 2016 — When people view an end product, that is simply what they see – a finished application. What they don’t see are the many factors along the way that influenced the successful final design. From research and development to process and product innovation to successful collaboration, the work done behind the scenes is critical to the success of the final product.

With Covestro’s values and vision, the company is well-positioned to address these elements, therefore enabling enhanced design possibilities. The Solar Impulse 2 solar-powered plane is the latest example of an innovative design that was able to soar with the help of Covestro. John Skabardonis, marketing communications & social media – Polycarbonates, Covestro LLC, will discuss this in greater detail when he presents “Solar Impulse: Designing from the impossible to the improbable” at 3:20 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, during the inaugural Design in Plastics 2016 conference.

During his presentation, Skabardonis will discuss the capabilities and considerations Covestro brings to the design table, including innovations, next-generation materials, technical and design expertise, a focus on sustainability and a history of successful collaborations.

Solar Impulse serves as just one example of the ground-breaking designs Covestro helps to make possible. The company continues to push the boundaries of design and innovation through projects like carbon dioxide-based polyols and sustainable business development initiatives, which are helping to bring affordable housing, improved sanitation and more efficient food storage/transportation to underserved markets worldwide.

Attendees of SPE’s Design in Plastics 2016 conference in Rhode Island will have the opportunity to learn more about the future of design and the role Covestro can play.
